holding back the night
impervious to dark times
a light in the gloom
This is the lighthouse at Folkestone Arm, Kent.
Nowadays it’s a wine bar, still lighting the night.
Beautiful Haiku, as usual.
Wonder how many souls it must have saved from destruction on stormy nights.
🙂
Essential in its day, still impressive. Thank you for your kind comments, they’re much appreciated.
Now it brings being lit in a different way. 🙂
It does, and they serve a mean selection of cognac!
Apparently, I’m neither old enough nor sophisticated enough to acquire the taste for cognac.
Don’t believe them, determination is the key. (Not sophisticated enough, you jest!)
Super haiku. A re-purposed lighthouse. Nice idea.
“Impervious” is such a great word. I always enjoy your pieces.
That’s very good of you, my pleasure.
Beautiful haiku! A wine bar – what a lovely idea!
Lovely place, at least prior to lockdown.
I feel illumined by the light from the light house and the wine bar. Can’t have too much of a good thing when we find it these days. Thanks, Bill
You’re welcome. Perhaps we could all do with a little more of a good thing at the moment.
