A Sailors Prayer

Taught to me when I was a mere pup by an old tar who had rounded the horn under sail:

Sailors Prayer
Oh Lord above send down a dove
with wings as sharp as razors
to slit the throats of those below
what sells bad beer to sailors.

they don’t write ’em like that any more.
