On a winter evening

cumulus soars pink
way into the Winter blue
a rush of starlings

Always so dramatic, especially before a quiet sunset, the frantic flyby of thousands of starlings heading for their night time roost.

It’sĀ happening again, repeat from Oct, 2012

The ash tree, already bare of its leaves, is now occupied by a flock of newly arrived starlings. Against the white sky they look like a couple of hundred bats doing synchronised handstands.
