I’ve seen sparkly lights in windows
of shops full of jingling bells
I see miserly men smile
I see the angels roar high
in the air on a streak of snow
I know they’re angels
I’ve seen them flash in the setting sun
I’ve seen them I tell you
they’re as true as true can be
I’ve seen them
though they could be reindeer

the battered sprig of mistletoe
having nil effect on the passing
populace that shared
not a smile not even
a sneer with the person
that real person that sat with
his spare hand
